Commemorating the 4th Anniversary of the War
Monday, March 19th marks a tragic
anniversary that we all hoped we would never see: four years since the start of
the U.S. invasion and now
military occupation of Iraq.
We join all of you in sadness and outrage at a war that should never have
started and is now continuing into a fifth year.
At events
surrounding the 4th anniversary of the war, military families will join with
others in calling for Congress to use its ‘power of the purse’ to end the
funding that allows the war in Iraq to continue. De-funding the war is not
de-funding our troops. If they give additional funds to President Bush to
continue the U.S. military
occupation of Iraq,
Members of Congress will be abandoning our troops.
On Monday MFSO will be holding a
National press conference in Washington, DC
at 10:30 am on the Terrace of the Cannon House Office Building. Over the weekend we will also
be participating in marches, vigils, actions etc, from New
York to Fayetteville, NC to Houston, TX to Eugene, OR and
everywhere in between.
